Chapter 16. Bait Dealer's License

Application; fee

    


Sec. 1. (a) A person engaging in or continuing to engage in the
business of taking, catching, selling, or bartering live minnows and
crayfish for bait shall file an application with the division for a bait
dealer's license. The application and the license must be on forms
prescribed by the director.

    (b) The fee for a license is as follows:

        (1) Ten dollars ($10) for residents.

        (2) Fifty dollars ($50) for nonresidents.

Issuance

    


Sec. 2. The director:

        (1) may, after investigation, issue a license to the applicant; or

        (2) shall, if the applicant is engaged in hatching and raising the
applicant's own stock, issue a license.

Expiration

    


Sec. 3. A license expires December 31 following the date of issue.

Permit to possess minnows or crayfish

    


Sec. 4. A person desiring to possess in Indiana at one (1) time
more than:

        (1) five hundred (500) live minnows; or

        (2) five hundred (500) live crayfish;

not intended for the purpose of engaging in the business of taking,
catching, selling, or bartering live minnows or crayfish for bait must
procure a permit to possess the minnows or crayfish.
