Chapter 25. Importation Permit

Applicability of chapter

    


Sec. 1. This chapter does not apply to the following:

        (1) Animals imported into Indiana for the purpose of being
confined and exhibited in a zoo or other public display of
animals.

        (2) Other animals that the department designates.

Permit requirement

    


Sec. 2. A person may not bring into Indiana, for the purpose of
release or selling for release in Indiana, live fish, the fry of live fish,
or any other living wild animal without a permit issued by the
department.

Application; fee

    


Sec. 3. An application for a permit must be filed with the director
not less than ten (10) days before the proposed date of importation.
A fee of five dollars ($5) must accompany the application.

Permit conditions and restrictions

    


Sec. 4. (a) A permit may be granted only upon satisfactory proof
that the specific animals intended to be imported meet the following
conditions:

        (1) The animals are free of a communicable disease at the time
of importation.

        (2) The animals will not become a nuisance.

        (3) The animals will not cause damage to a native wild or
domestic species.

    (b) The director may incorporate in the permit the restrictions that
the director considers necessary.
