    Chapter 2. Geological Investigation Permits

Department investigations; granting permit
    
Sec. 1. The department may do the following:
        (1) Conduct geologic investigations, including exploratorydrilling, to evaluate the quality and reserves of mineral depositson land and water of the state.
        (2) Grant permits for investigations and exploration describedin subdivision (1) by interested persons.

Fee
    
Sec. 2. The fee for a permit issued under this chapter is onehundred dollars ($100). In addition, a permittee must give bond inthe amount and with surety approved by the department for full andprompt compliance with the terms and conditions of the permit.

Terms, conditions, and covenants
    
Sec. 3. The department shall incorporate in a permit the terms,conditions, and covenants the department considers necessary toprotect the public interest and other uses and purposes for which theland is held and used by the state.
