    Chapter 1. General Provisions; Definitions

Applicability
    
Sec. 1. The definitions in this chapter apply throughout thisarticle.

"Agency"
    
Sec. 2. "Agency" means a medical center development agency.

"Board of commissioners"
    
Sec. 3. "Board of commissioners" includes, in the case of a countyhaving a consolidated city, the city-county council.

"Board of trustees"
    
Sec. 4. "Board of trustees", for the purposes of IC 16-23.5-4 andIC 16-23.5-5, refers to the board of trustees of Indiana University.

"Comprehensive plan"
    
Sec. 5. "Comprehensive plan" refers to a comprehensive plan thatis developed by an executive board for the development of a medicalcenter.

"County council"
    
Sec. 6. "County council" includes, in the case of a county havinga consolidated city, the city-county council.

Sec. 10. "Indiana University hospitals" refers to the hospitalsdescribed in IC 16-23.5-3-1.

"Medical center"
    
Sec. 11. "Medical center" includes a hospital building or complexof buildings in which medical education, internship programs,medical research, paramedical training, and any related or equivalentactivities are systematically carried on in addition to the usualfunctions of hospitals.
