    Chapter 5. National Guard Scholarship Extension Program

Establishment of fund
    Sec. 1. (a) The National Guard scholarship extension fund isestablished to provide the financial resources necessary to awardtuition scholarships to scholarship extension applicants.
    (b) The commission shall administer the fund. The expenses ofadministering the fund shall be paid from money in the fund.
    (c) The fund consists of money transferred to the fund from theNational Guard scholarship program reserves.
    (d) Money in the fund at the end of a state fiscal year does notrevert to the state general fund.

Purpose of fund
    Sec. 2. Money in the National Guard scholarship extension fundshall be used to provide annual scholarships to scholarship extensionapplicants in an amount determined by the commission.

Application
    Sec. 3. A scholarship extension applicant shall apply for a tuitionscholarship under this chapter not later than one (1) year after thescholarship extension applicant ceases to be a member of theNational Guard.

Eligibility
    Sec. 4. A scholarship extension applicant is eligible for a tuitionscholarship under this chapter for a period not to exceed the periodthe scholarship extension applicant served on active duty as amember of the National Guard.

Authority to adopt rules
    Sec. 5. The commission shall adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 toimplement this chapter.
