Statewide medical education system established
Sec. 1. There is established the Indiana statewide medicaleducation system.

Centers located around state
Sec. 2. The Indiana statewide medical education system mustinclude centers for comprehensive medical education established incooperation with existing medical and educational institutions in thefollowing:
(1) Gary.
(2) Fort Wayne.
(3) Lafayette.
(4) Evansville.
(5) South Bend.
(6) Terre Haute.
(7) Muncie.

Center locations
Sec. 3. The centers are the following:
(1) The Gary center on the campus of IndianaUniversity-Northwest shall be known as Indiana UniversitySchool of Medicine-Northwest.
(2) The Fort Wayne center on the campus of IndianaUniversity-Purdue University Fort Wayne shall be known asIndiana University School of Medicine-Fort Wayne.
(3) The Lafayette center on the campus of Purdue Universityshall be known as Indiana University School ofMedicine-Lafayette.
(4) The Evansville center on the campus of the University ofSouthern Indiana shall be known as University School ofMedicine-Evansville.
(5) The South Bend center on the campus of the University ofNotre Dame shall be known as Indiana University School ofMedicine-South Bend.
(6) Indiana University School of Medicine-Terre Haute (on thecampus of Indiana State University).
(7) The Muncie center on the campus of Ball State Universityshall be known as Indiana University School ofMedicine-Muncie.

IC 21-44-4-4 Center directors
Sec. 4. A director shall be jointly appointed for each center in theIndiana statewide medical education system by the office of dean ofthe Indiana University School of Medicine and the local cooperatingstate educational institutions. The director holds a joint appointmentwith the local cooperating state educational institutions.

Local advisory councils
Sec. 5. An advisory council shall be appointed by each localcenter to provide as effectively as possible for a high degree ofsupport and advice from the lay and professional communities.

Development and expansion of center programs
Sec. 6. The administration of the Indiana University School ofMedicine shall plan and implement the orderly development andexpansion of a medical education program in each center incooperation with the director and staff of the cooperating stateeducational institutions.

Fiscal administration
Sec. 7. The dean of the Indiana University School of Medicine isresponsible for the fiscal administration of the medical educationprograms established in each center. The director of each center shallsubmit budgets for review and approval by the dean of the IndianaUniversity School of Medicine.

Faculty appointments
Sec. 8. Joint faculty appointments shall be made by the IndianaUniversity School of Medicine and the participating state educationalinstitutions.

Responsibilities of Indiana University School of Medicine
Sec. 9. The Indiana University School of Medicine is responsiblefor:
(1) selection, admission, and assignment of students;
(2) curricular development and evaluation; and
(3) accreditation.

IC 21-44-4-10 Periodic evaluations
Sec. 10. To insure continuing educational excellence, the IndianaUniversity School of Medicine shall provide for periodic, systematicevaluation of the Indiana statewide medical education system incooperation with the governor's commission on medical education orits successor body.
