Chapter 10. Office of Workforce Literacy

Governor shall establish; purposes
Sec. 1. The governor shall establish an office of workforceliteracy within the department to:
(1) oversee the development of workforce literacy programs inIndiana;
(2) target available funds for workforce basic skill improvementprograms;
(3) develop methods for motivating adults and employers inworkforce literacy and basic skill improvement; and
(4) provide a clearinghouse of information pertaining toworkforce literacy.

Duties
Sec. 2. The office of workforce literacy has the following duties:
(1) Develop certain performance standards as the standardsrelate to workforce literacy initiatives.
(2) Develop a common data base, reporting system, andevaluation system relating to basic skills programs.
(3) Establish an application process for basic skills trainingproviders that emphasizes performance based outcomes.
