Intimidation or interference with exercise of another's rights;classification of offense
Sec. 1. A person commits a Class A misdemeanor if the person,whether or not acting under color of law, by force or threat of forceintentionally intimidates or interferes with or attempts to intimidateor interfere with a person:
(1) because of the person's race, color, religion, sex, disability,familial status, or national origin and because the person is orhas been selling, purchasing, renting, financing, occupying, orcontracting or negotiating for the sale, purchase, rental,financing, or occupation of any dwelling, or applying for orparticipating in a service, organization, or facility relating to thebusiness of selling or renting dwellings; or
(2) because the person is or has been, or to intimidate theperson from:
(A) participating, without discrimination because of race,color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or nationalorigin, in an activity, a service, an organization, or a facilitydescribed in subdivision (1);
(B) affording another person opportunity or protection toparticipate in an activity, a service, an organization, or afacility described in subdivision (1); or
(C) lawfully aiding or encouraging other persons toparticipate, without discrimination because of race, color,religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin, inan activity, a service, an organization, or a facility describedin subdivision (1).
