    Chapter 2. Retention of Weights and Measures By Counties

Procurement of weights and measures
    
Sec. 1. The several boards of county commissioners within thisstate be, and they are hereby authorized and required to procure fortheir respective counties, and at the expense of the same, a set of thefollowing measures and weights for the use of their county: that is;one (1) measure of one (1) foot or twelve (12) inches, Englishmeasure, so-called; also one (1) measure of three (3) feet, orthirty-six (36) inches, as aforesaid; also, one half (1/2) bushelmeasure for dry measure, which shall contain one thousand andseveny-five and one-fifth (1,075 1/5) solid inches; also one gallonmeasure, which shall contain two hundred and thirty-one (231) solidinches; which measures are to be of wood or of any metal the courtmay think proper; also, one (1) set of weights commonly calledavoirdupois weights; and sealed with the name or initial letters of thecounty inscribed thereon; and shall be kept by the county auditor ofeach and every county in this state, for the purpose of trying andsealing the weights and measures used in their counties.
