    Chapter 6. License Renewal

Expiration of license
    
Sec. 1. A license for a home inspector issued under this articleexpires on a date established by the licensing agency underIC 25-1-6-4 and shall be renewed biennially upon payment of therequired renewal fees.

Sec. 2. (a) An individual who applies to renew a license as alicensed home inspector must:
        (1) furnish evidence showing successful completion of thecontinuing education requirements of this chapter; and
        (2) pay the renewal fee established by the board.
    (b) If the holder of a license does not renew the license on orbefore the renewal date specified by the licensing agency, the licenseexpires and becomes invalid without any action by the board.
    (c) A license may be reinstated by the board not later than (3)years after the expiration of the license if the applicant forreinstatement meets the requirements for reinstatement underIC 25-1-8-6(c).
    (d) If a license has been expired for more than three (3) years, thelicense may be reinstated by the board if the holder meets therequirements for reinstatement under IC 25-1-8-6(d).

Sec. 3. (a) Renewal notices must be sent in accordance withIC 25-1-2-6(c).
    (b) The renewal fee must be paid in accordance withIC 25-1-8-2(d).

Continuing education requirements
    
Sec. 4. Before the end of each license period, each licensee mustcomplete the continuing education required by the board. Thisrequirement may not exceed twenty (20) hours per year.

Adoption of rules concerning continuing education
    
Sec. 5. (a) The board shall adopt rules concerning the continuing

education required for the renewal of a license under this chapter.
    (b) The rules must do the following:
        (1) Establish procedures for approving organizations thatprovide continuing education.
        (2) Prescribe the content, duration, and organization ofcontinuing education courses that contribute to the generalcompetence of home inspectors.
