Issuance; certificate of registration for land surveying
Sec. 1. (a) The board shall issue a certificate of registration, uponthe payment of the fee prescribed in this chapter, to an applicantwho, in the opinion of the board, has satisfactorily met allrequirements of this article.
(b) A certificate of registration for land surveying must:
(1) authorize the practice of land surveying;
(2) show the full name of the land surveyor;
(3) bear a serial number and date; and
(4) be signed by each member and by the secretary under sealof the board.
(c) The issuance of a certificate by the board under this section isevidence that the named person is entitled to all the rights andprivileges of a registered land surveyor from the date on thecertificate until the certificate expires or is revoked.

Issuance; certificate of enrollment as land-surveyor-in-training
Sec. 2. (a) The board shall issue a certificate of enrollment as aland-surveyor-in-training upon the payment of the certificate feeprescribed in this chapter to any applicant who, in the opinion of theboard, has satisfactorily met all of the requirements of this article.
(b) A certificate of enrollment as a land-surveyor-in-training muststate that the applicant has successfully passed the examination infundamental surveying subjects required by the board and has beenenrolled as a land-surveyor-in-training. A certificate of enrollmentmust:
(1) show the full name of the land-surveyor-in-training;
(2) bear a serial number and date; and
(3) be signed by the chairman and the secretary, under the sealof the board.
(c) The issuance of a certificate by the board is evidence that theperson named on the certificate is entitled to all the rights andprivileges of a land-surveyor-in-training until the certificate expiresor is revoked.

Partnerships, firms, and corporations; eligibility for certification
Sec. 3. A registration certificate for a land surveyor may be issuedonly to a natural person. A partnership, firm, or corporation doingbusiness in Indiana may not be engaged in the practice of landsurveying unless the practice is carried on under the responsible
direction and supervision of a registered land surveyor who is afull-time employee and a principal of the firm or partnership or anofficer of the corporation. The name of the registrant must appearwhen the firm name is used in the professional practice of the firm,partnership, or corporation. Any land surveys, plans, sheets ofdesigns, specifications, or other documents requiring certificationthat are prepared by the personnel of any partnership, firm, orcorporation must carry the signature and seal of the registered landsurveyor who was responsible for and in charge of the land surveyingwork.

Conditions; certificate of registration
Sec. 4. The board may issue a certificate of registration as a landsurveyor to any person who meets the following conditions:
(1) Properly applies for a certificate of registration.
(2) Pays the required fee.
(3) Holds a valid certificate of registration as a land surveyorissued by the proper authority of any state of the United Statesif the requirements for registration of land surveyors underwhich the certificate of registration was issued do not conflictwith the provisions of this chapter and were of a standard notlower than that specified in the applicable registration statute ineffect in Indiana at the time the certificate was issued.

Registration and certification fees
Sec. 5. The board shall determine the amount of registration feesfor a land surveyor and certification fees for a land surveyor intraining.

Application fees; registration as land surveyor
Sec. 6. If the board refuses to issue a certificate of registration toa person who has made a proper application for registration as a landsurveyor, the initial fee prescribed by the board and deposited withthe board by the applicant shall be retained by the board as anapplication fee.

Application fees; certification as land-surveyor-in-training
Sec. 7. If the board refuses to issue a certificate to a person whohas made proper application for certification as a
land-surveyor-in-training, the fee prescribed by the board anddeposited by the applicant with the board shall be retained as anapplication fee.
