    Chapter 33. Coordination of Benefits

Coordination of benefits provision; purpose
    Sec. 1. Health maintenance organizations may adopt acoordination of benefits provision to:
        (1) avoid overinsurance; and
        (2) provide for the orderly payment of a claim when a person iscovered by two (2) or more group health insurance or healthcare plans.

Provision consistent with 760 IAC 1-38.1
    Sec. 2. If a health maintenance organization adopts a coordinationof benefits provision, the provision must be consistent with thecoordination of benefits provisions of 760 IAC 1-38.1 as it may beamended or replaced from time to time.
