    Chapter 8. Modification of Child Support or Maintenance Orders

Modification or revocation of child support order or maintenanceorder
    
Sec. 1. (a) Provisions of an order with respect to child support oran order for maintenance (ordered under IC 31-16-7-1 orIC 31-1-11.5-9(c) before their repeal) may be modified or revoked.
    (b) Except as provided in section 2 of this chapter, modificationmay be made only:
        (1) upon a showing of changed circumstances so substantial andcontinuing as to make the terms unreasonable; or
        (2) upon a showing that:
            (A) a party has been ordered to pay an amount in childsupport that differs by more than twenty percent (20%) fromthe amount that would be ordered by applying the childsupport guidelines; and
            (B) the order requested to be modified or revoked was issuedat least twelve (12) months before the petition requestingmodification was filed.
    (c) Modification under this section is subject toIC 31-25-4-17(a)(6).

Medical support
    
Sec. 2. The court shall modify a support order to require eitherparent or both parents to provide medical support for the childthrough the health insurance coverage if a Title IV-D agency,authorized under the federal Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 651through 669) and IC 31-25-4-17, petitions for the modification andthe coverage is available to the parent at a reasonable cost.

Security, bond, or guarantee
    
Sec. 3. The court may provide in a modification of a support orderfor the security, bond, or other guarantee that is satisfactory to thecourt to secure the obligation to make support payments.
