Chapter 7. Costs and Attorney's Fees

Costs and attorney's fees; order for direct payment to attorney
Sec. 1. (a) The court periodically may order a party to pay areasonable amount for the cost to the other party of maintaining ordefending any proceeding under IC 31-17-2, IC 31-17-4, IC 31-17-6,or this chapter and for attorney's fees and mediation services,including amounts for legal services provided and costs incurredbefore the commencement of the proceedings or after entry ofjudgment.
(b) The court may order the amount to be paid directly to theattorney, who may enforce the order in the attorney's name.

Exemption for agencies
Sec. 2. Neither costs nor attorney's fees may be taxed against anagency or its agents that is authorized to maintain proceedings underIC 31-17-2, IC 31-17-4, IC 31-17-6, or this chapter by Title IV-D ofthe federal Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 651 through 669) andIC 31-25-4-17.
