    Chapter 10. Duty of Health Care Provider to Examine,Photograph, and X-ray Child Who Is Subject of Child Abuse orNeglect Report

Duty to photograph, x-ray, and physically examine trauma visibleon child
    
Sec. 1. (a) A person who:
        (1) is required to report cases of known or suspected childabuse or neglect; and
        (2) is also a health care provider or a person in charge of ahospital or similar medical institution treating the child;
shall cause photographs to be taken of the areas of trauma visible onthe child who is the subject of a report.
    (b) If medically indicated, a physician may cause a radiologicalexamination or a physical medical examination, or both, of the childto be performed.

Sec. 2. The department shall reimburse the reasonable cost ofphotographs, x-rays, or physical medical examinations made underthis chapter.

Sec. 3. All photographs taken and a summary of x-rays and othermedical care shall be sent to the department and, upon request, to alaw enforcement agency that investigates the alleged child abuse orneglect, at the time the written report is sent or as soon thereafter aspossible. The department shall give notice of the existence ofphotographs, x-rays, and physical medical examination reports inaccordance with IC 31-25-2-12.
