    Chapter 14. Referral of Case to Juvenile Court FollowingInvestigation of Report of Child Abuse or Neglect; Juvenile CourtProceeding

Referral to juvenile court or prosecuting attorney
    Sec. 1. If the department determines that the best interests of thechild require action in the juvenile or criminal court, the departmentshall:
        (1) refer the case to the juvenile court under IC 31-34-7; or
        (2) make a referral to the prosecuting attorney if criminalprosecution is desired.

Duty of department of child services to assist court
    Sec. 2. The department shall assist the juvenile court or the courthaving criminal jurisdiction during all stages of the proceedings inaccordance with the purposes of this article.
