Chapter 3. Descriptions of Land Using the Indiana CoordinateSystem

Reference to United States public land surveys; coordinatedescription as supplemental; conflicts
Sec. 1. If coordinates based on the Indiana coordinate system areused to describe any tract of land, which in the same document isalso described by reference to any subdivision, line, or corner of theUnited States public land surveys:
(1) the description by coordinates shall be construed assupplemental to the basic description of the subdivision, line, orcorner contained in the official plats and field notes filed ofrecord; and
(2) in the event of any conflict, the description by reference tothe subdivision, line, or corner of the United States public landsurveys prevails over the description by coordinates.

Sec. 2. This article does not require a purchaser or mortgagee torely on a description, any part of which depends exclusively upon theIndiana coordinate system.
