Establishment of court; judge; term; election
    
Sec. 2. The Grant superior court No. 2, is established as a court ofrecord. The court consists of one (1) judge, who shall hold office fora term of six (6) years, beginning on the first day of January after thejudge's election, and until the judge's successor is elected andqualified. Every six (6) years, the voters of Grant County shall electat the general election a judge for the Grant superior court No. 2.

Judicial district; court of record; seal
    
Sec. 3. Grant County constitutes the judicial district of the Grantsuperior court No. 2. The court shall have a seal containing the words"Grant Superior Court No. 2, of Grant County, Indiana".

Bailiff and court reporter
    
Sec. 4. The judge of the Grant superior court No. 2 shall appointa bailiff and an official court reporter for the court, to serve at thepleasure of the court. The judge shall fix their compensation asprovided by law concerning bailiffs and official court reporters. Thecompensation shall be paid monthly out of the treasury of GrantCounty.

Location of court sessions
    
Sec. 5. (a) The Grant superior court No. 2, shall hold its sessionsin a place to be determined by the county council of Grant County.
    (b) The board of county commissioners of Grant County shallprovide and maintain in the courthouse a suitable and convenientcourtroom for the holding of court, together with a suitable andconvenient jury room and offices for the judge and the official courtreporter.
    (c) The board of county commissioners shall provide all necessaryfurniture and equipment for the rooms and offices of the court, andall necessary dockets, books, and records for the court. The countycouncil shall make the necessary appropriations from the generalfund of the county to carry out this chapter.

Jurisdiction
    
Sec. 6. The Grant superior court No. 2 has the same jurisdictionas the Grant circuit court.

Judicial powers
    
Sec. 7. The judge of the Grant superior court No. 2 may make andadopt rules and regulations for conducting the business of the Grantsuperior court No. 2. The judge has all powers incident to a court ofrecord in relation to the attendance of witnesses and punishment forcontempt, and the power to enforce the judge's orders. The judgemay administer oaths, solemnize marriages, take and certifyacknowledgments of deeds, give all necessary certificates for theauthentication of records and proceedings of the court, and make andexecute certificates of qualification and moral character of personspetitioning to be commissioned as notaries public.
