Judicial circuit
    
Sec. 1. Bartholomew County constitutes the ninth judicial circuit.

IC 33-33-3-2
Establishment of standard superior courts
    
Sec. 2. (a) There are created two (2) courts of record to be knownas Bartholomew superior court No. 1 and Bartholomew superiorcourt No. 2.
    (b) Each court is a standard superior court as described inIC 33-29-1.
    (c) Bartholomew County comprises the judicial district of eachcourt.

Clerk and sheriff
    
Sec. 3. The clerk of the Bartholomew circuit court is the clerk ofthe Bartholomew superior courts, and the sheriff of BartholomewCounty is the sheriff of the Bartholomew superior courts. The clerkand sheriff shall attend the courts and discharge all the dutiespertaining to their respective offices as they are required to do by lawwith reference to the Bartholomew circuit court.

Judges; location of court sessions
    
Sec. 4. Each Bartholomew superior court has one (1) judge whoshall hold sessions in the Bartholomew County courthouse inColumbus.

IC 33-33-3-5
Judicial powers
    
Sec. 5. (a) The judges of the Bartholomew superior courts:
        (1) may make and adopt rules for conducting the business of theBartholomew superior courts not repugnant to the laws of thestate or rules of the supreme court; and
        (2) have all powers incident to a court of record in relation tothe attendance of witnesses, punishment of contempt, andenforcement of its orders.
    (b) In addition to the powers described in IC 33-29-1-4, the judgesof each superior court may:
        (1) give all necessary certificates for the authentication ofrecords and proceedings of each court; and
        (2) make and execute certificates of qualification and moral

character of persons petitioning to be commissioned as notariespublic.

IC 33-33-3-6
Magistrate
    
Sec. 6. (a) The judge of Bartholomew superior court No. 2 mayappoint one (1) full-time magistrate to serve Bartholomew superiorcourt No. 2.
    (b) The magistrate continues in office until removed by the judgeof Bartholomew superior court No. 2.

IC 33-33-3-7
Jurisdiction
    
Sec. 7. The Bartholomew superior courts have concurrentjurisdiction, both original and appellate, with the Bartholomewcircuit court in all:
        (1) civil actions and proceedings at law and in equity; and
        (2) criminal and probate matters, actions, and proceedings ofwhich the Bartholomew circuit court has jurisdiction.
However, the Bartholomew circuit court has exclusive jurisdictionin all juvenile matters, actions, and proceedings.

Standard small claims and misdemeanor division
    
Sec. 8. The Bartholomew superior court No. 2 has a standardsmall claims and misdemeanor division.
