Judicial circuit
Sec. 1. Hancock County constitutes the eighteenth judicial circuit.

Establishment of standard superior courts
Sec. 2. (a) There are established two (2) superior courts of recordto be known as the Hancock superior court No. 1 and the Hancocksuperior court No. 2.
(b) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, each Hancocksuperior court is a standard superior court as described in IC 33-29-1.
(c) Hancock county comprises the judicial district of each court.

Judges; election
Sec. 3. (a) IC 33-29-1-3 does not apply to this section.
(b) Each of court consists of one (1) judge who holds office forsix (6) years, beginning on January 1 after the judge's election anduntil the judge's successor is elected and qualified. Every six (6)years, the voters of Hancock County shall elect at the generalelection a judge for each superior court.

Location of court sessions
Sec. 4. Hancock superior court No. 1 and Hancock superior courtNo. 2 shall each hold sessions in the Hancock County courthouse inGreenfield.

Powers
Sec. 5. In addition to the powers described in IC 33-29-1-4, thejudges of Hancock superior court No. 1 and Hancock superior courtNo. 2 may make and adopt rules and regulations for conducting thebusiness of Hancock superior court No. 1 and Hancock superiorcourt No. 2 and have all the powers incident to a court of record inrelation to the attendance of witnesses, punishment of contempt, andthe enforcement of the courts' orders. The judge of each superiorcourt may make and execute certificates of qualification and moralcharacter of persons petitioning to be commissioned as notariespublic.

IC 33-33-30-6 Transfer of actions and proceedings
Sec. 6. Notwithstanding the provisions of any statute applyinggenerally to superior or circuit courts, a judge of the:
(1) Hancock circuit court;
(2) Hancock superior court No. 1; or
(3) Hancock superior court No. 2;
may transfer an action or proceeding from the Hancock circuit courtor a Hancock superior court to the Hancock circuit court or anotherHancock superior court with the consent of the judge of the court thatwould receive the action or proceeding.

Change of venue
Sec. 7. (a) Change of venue from the judge or from the countymay be had under the same terms, conditions, and procedureapplicable to changes of venue from the judge or the county in circuitcourts.
(b) If a cause is received by the clerk of the Hancock circuit courton change of venue from another county, the cause may be docketedin either the Hancock circuit court, Hancock superior court No. 1, orHancock superior court No. 2, under rules adopted by the judges ofthe Hancock circuit court, Hancock superior court No. 1, andHancock superior court No. 2, unless otherwise provided in theorder, report of striking, or entry made in the cause in the countyfrom which the change of venue was taken, in which case it shall bedocketed as provided in the entry, report, or order.

Jurisdiction
Sec. 9. Hancock superior court No. 1 and Hancock superior courtNo. 2 have the same jurisdiction as the Hancock circuit court.

Small claims and misdemeanor division
Sec. 10. Hancock superior court No. 2 has a standard small claimsand misdemeanor division.
