Judicial circuit; small claims and misdemeanor division
    Sec. 1. (a) Jasper County constitutes the thirtieth judicial circuit.
    (b) The Jasper circuit court has a standard small claims andmisdemeanor division.

Establishment of standard superior court
    Sec. 2. (a) There is established a court of record to be known asJasper superior court No. 1.
    (b) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, the Jaspersuperior court No. 1 is a standard superior court as described inIC 33-29-1.
    (c) Jasper County comprises the judicial district of the court.

Judge; election
    Sec. 3. (a) IC 33-29-1-3 does not apply to this section.
    (b) The Jasper superior court has one (1) judge, who shall beelected at the general election every six (6) years in Jasper County.The judge's term begins January 1 following the judge's election andends December 31 following the election of the judge's successor.

Location of court sessions
    Sec. 4. The judge of the Jasper superior court No. 1 shall holdsessions in the Jasper County courthouse in Rensselaer or in otherplaces in the county as the board of county commissioners of JasperCounty may provide.

Rules
    Sec. 5. (a) The judge of Jasper superior court No. 1 shall adoptrules to provide for the administration of the Jasper superior court,including rules governing the following:
        (1) Legal representation for indigents.
        (2) Budgetary matters of the Jasper superior court.
        (3) Operation of the probation department.
        (4) Employment and management of court personnel.
        (5) Cooperative efforts with other courts for establishing andadministering shared programs and facilities.
    (b) The judge of the Jasper superior court shall file with thedivision of state court administration a copy of the rules adopted

under this section.

Personnel
    Sec. 6. (a) In addition to the personnel described in IC 33-29-1-5,the judge of the Jasper superior court No. 1 may, subject to thebudget approved for the court by the fiscal body of Jasper County,employ personnel necessary for the proper administration of thecourt.
    (b) Personnel employed under this section:
        (1) include court reporters, bailiffs, clerical staff, and anyadditional officers necessary for the proper administration ofthe court; and
        (2) are subject to the rules concerning employment andmanagement of court personnel adopted by the court undersection 5 of this chapter.

Jurisdiction
    Sec. 7. The Jasper superior court No. 1 has the same jurisdictionas the Jasper circuit court, except that only the circuit court hasjuvenile jurisdiction.

    Sec. 8. The Jasper superior court No. 1 has a standard smallclaims and misdemeanor division.
