    Chapter 1. Definitions

Application of definitions
    Sec. 1. Except as otherwise provided, the definitions in thischapter apply throughout this article.

"Airport authority"
    Sec. 2. "Airport authority" refers to an airport authorityestablished under IC 8-22-3 in a county having a population of morethan four hundred thousand (400,000) but less than seven hundredthousand (700,000).

"Airport authority project"
    Sec. 3. "Airport authority project" means a project that can befinanced with the proceeds of bonds issued by an airport authorityunder IC 8-22-3.

"Airport development authority"
    Sec. 4. "Airport development authority" refers to an airportdevelopment authority established under IC 8-22-3.7 in a city havinga population of more than ninety thousand (90,000) but less than onehundred five thousand (105,000).

"Bonds"
    Sec. 5. "Bonds" means bonds, notes, or other evidences ofindebtedness issued by the development authority.

"Commuter transportation district"
    Sec. 6. "Commuter transportation district" refers to a commutertransportation district that:
        (1) is established under IC 8-5-15; and
        (2) has among its purposes the maintenance, operation, andimprovement of passenger service over the Chicago, SouthShore, and South Bend Railroad and any extension of that

railroad.

"Commuter transportation district project"
    Sec. 7. "Commuter transportation district project" means a projectthat can be financed with the proceeds of bonds issued by acommuter transportation district under IC 8-5-15.

"Development authority"
    Sec. 8. "Development authority" refers to the northwest Indianaregional development authority established by IC 36-7.5-2-1.

"Development board"
    Sec. 9. "Development board" refers to the governing bodyappointed under IC 36-7.5-2-3 for a development authority.

IC 36-7.5-1-10
"Economic development project"
    Sec. 10. "Economic development project" means the following:
        (1) An economic development project described inIC 6-3.5-7-13.1(c).
        (2) A dredging, sediment removal, or channel improvementproject.

"Eligible county"
    Sec. 11. "Eligible county" refers to the following counties:
        (1) A county having a population of more than four hundredthousand (400,000) but less than seven hundred thousand(700,000).
        (2) A county having a population of more than one hundredforty-five thousand (145,000) but less than one hundredforty-eight thousand (148,000).
        (3) A county having a population of more than one hundred tenthousand (110,000) but less than one hundred fifteen thousand(115,000), if:
            (A) the fiscal body of the county has adopted an ordinanceunder IC 36-7.5-2-3(e) providing that the county is joiningthe development authority; and
            (B) the fiscal body of the city described in IC 36-7.5-2-3(e)has adopted an ordinance under IC 36-7.5-2-3(e) providingthat the city is joining the development authority.

"Eligible municipality"
    Sec. 11.3. "Eligible municipality" refers to a municipality that hasbecome a member of the development authority underIC 36-7.5-2-3(i).

"Eligible political subdivision"
    Sec. 12. "Eligible political subdivision" means the following:
        (1) An airport authority.
        (2) A commuter transportation district.
        (3) A regional bus authority under IC 36-9-3-2(c).
        (4) A regional transportation authority established underIC 36-9-3-2.
        (5) A shoreline development commission under IC 36-7-13.5.

"Project"
    Sec. 13. "Project" means an airport authority project, a commutertransportation district project, an economic development project, aregional bus authority project, a regional transportation authorityproject, or a shoreline development commission project.

"Regional bus authority"
    Sec. 14. "Regional bus authority" means a regional transportationauthority operating as a regional bus authority under IC 36-9-3-2(c).

"Regional bus authority project"
    Sec. 15. "Regional bus authority project" means a project that canbe financed with the proceeds of bonds issued by a regional busauthority under IC 36-9-3.

"Regional transportation authority"
    Sec. 15.3. "Regional transportation authority" means a regionaltransportation authority established under IC 36-9-3-2.

    Sec. 15.6. "Regional transportation authority project" means aproject that can be financed with the proceeds of bonds issued by aregional transportation authority under IC 36-9-3.

    Sec. 16. "Shoreline development commission" means thecommission established by IC 36-7-13.5-2.
