    Chapter 1. Definitions

"Board"
    
Sec. 1. Board. "Board" as used in this article means the board oftrustees of the public employees' retirement fund.

"Employer"
    
Sec. 2. Employer. "Employer" as used in this article means thestate for employees of the state and a political subdivision for itsemployees.

Sec. 2.5. As used in this article, "director" refers to the director ofthe fund.

"Fund"
    
Sec. 3. Fund. "Fund" as used in this article means the publicemployees' retirement fund.

"Governing body"
    
Sec. 4. "Governing body" means the fiscal body of a county, city,town, or township, board of school commissioners, library board, orany board which by law is authorized to fix a rate of taxation onproperty of a political subdivision, or any other board which isempowered to administer the affairs of any department of a politicalsubdivision, which department receives revenue independently of, orin addition to, funds obtained from taxation.

Sec. 5. Member. "Member" as used in this article means personsqualifying for membership under IC 5-10.3-7-1.

Sec. 6. Political Subdivision. "Political subdivision" as used inthis article means a county, city, town, township, political bodycorporate, public school corporation, public library, public utility ofa county, city, town, township, and any department of, or associatedwith, a county, city, town, or township, which department receivesrevenue independently of, or in addition to, funds obtained fromtaxation.

"Member's contribution"
    
Sec. 9. As used in this article, "member's contribution" includescontributions paid by the employer for members of the fund.
