    Chapter 9. Deposits on Behalf of Local Employees

IC 5-10-9-1
"Municipal corporation" defined
    
Sec. 1. As used in this chapter:
    "Municipal corporation" means county, city, town, township,school corporation, library district, fire protection district, publictransportation corporation, local hospital authority or corporation,local airport authority district, special service district, or otherseparate local governmental entity that may sue and be sued. Theterm does not include special taxing district.

Deposits
    
Sec. 2. An employee of a municipal corporation may make awritten request that any compensation due him from the municipalcorporation be deposited to his account in a bank or trust company.Upon receipt of request, the officer responsible for making thedisbursements may:
        (1) draw a check in favor of the bank or trust company set forthin the request for the credit of the employee; or
        (2) in the event more than one (1) employee of the samemunicipal corporation designates the same bank or trustcompany, draw a single check in favor of the bank or trustcompany for the total amount due the employees and transmitthe check to the bank or trust company identifying eachemployee and the amount to be deposited in each employee'saccount.

Payments
    
Sec. 3. Payment by a municipal corporation of a check properlyendorsed and drawn in accordance with this chapter constitutes fullpayment for the amount due the employee.
