    Chapter 15. Local Road and Street Inventory

Mileage and use inventories
    Sec. 1. The department shall periodically inventory the mileageand use of the local road systems under the jurisdiction of thecounties and the street systems under the jurisdiction ofmunicipalities.

Notice; confirmation of accuracy; appeals
    Sec. 2. In undertaking the inventory under this chapter, thedepartment shall give written notice to the county road supervisorand the county executive thirty (30) days before the inventoryactually begins that an inventory is underway. The department shallconfer with the local officials to confirm the accuracy of theinventory. If the county executive believes an error has been made,the executive may appeal to the commissioner for a review of theinventory results.

Roads included in inventories
    Sec. 3. For the purpose of the inventory under this chapter, thedepartment shall include in each county's total mileage those roadsmaking up that county's southern and eastern boundaries. If a countyis responsible for roads on a state line as the result of an interagencyagreement, those roads shall be included in the inventory.

Use in annual certification of county road mileage
    Sec. 4. The department shall use the inventory developed underthis chapter in its annual certification of county road mileage.
