Chapter 7.5. Blocking Railroad Grade Crossings

Time limit
Sec. 1. It shall be unlawful for a railroad corporation to permit anytrain, railroad car or engine to obstruct public travel at arailroad-highway grade crossing for a period in excess of ten (10)minutes, except where such train, railroad car or engine cannot bemoved by reason of circumstances over which the railroadcorporation has no control.

Successive train movements
Sec. 2. It shall be unlawful for a railroad corporation to permitsuccessive train movements to obstruct vehicular traffic at arailroad-highway grade crossing until all vehicular traffic previouslydelayed by such train movements has been cleared or a period of five(5) minutes has elapsed between train movements.

Violations
Sec. 3. A railroad corporation, conductor, or engineer whoviolates this chapter commits a Class C infraction. However, noconductor or engineer acting under the rules or orders of the railroadcorporation or its supervisory personnel may be prosecuted for sucha violation.
