    Chapter 8. Railroad Track Motor Cars

Headlights and red rear electric lights; violation; offense
    
Sec. 1. A person operating or controlling any railroad shall equipeach of its track motor cars used, during the period from thirty (30)minutes before sunset to thirty (30) minutes after sunrise, with anelectric head-light of such construction and with sufficientcandlepower to render plainly visible, at a distance of not less thanthree hundred (300) feet in advance of the track motor car, any trackobstruction, landmark, warning sign, or grade crossing, and also shallequip each track motor car with a red rear electric light of suchconstruction and with sufficient candlepower as to be plainly visibleat a distance of three hundred (300) feet. It is a Class C infraction forsuch a person to operate or use any track motor car from thirty (30)minutes before sunset to thirty (30) minutes after sunrise if it is notequipped with lights of the candlepower, construction, and utilitydescribed in this section. Each day of operation or use in violation ofthis section constitutes a separate offense.

Investigations and enforcement
    
Sec. 3. The Indiana department of transportation shall make thenecessary investigations concerning compliance with this chapter,and shall cause to be filed by the proper enforcing agencies,affidavits for the enforcement of this chapter.
