Chapter 32.2. Drug Free Indiana Trust License Plates

Design and issuance of plates
Sec. 1. The bureau of motor vehicles shall design and issue a drugfree Indiana trust license plate. The drug free Indiana trust licenseplate shall be designed and issued as a special group recognitionlicense plate under IC 9-18-25.

Eligibility
Sec. 2. After December 31, 1999, a person who is eligible toregister a vehicle under this title is eligible to receive a drug freeIndiana trust license plate under this chapter upon doing thefollowing:
(1) Completing an application for a drug free Indiana trustlicense plate.
(2) Paying the fees under section 3 of this chapter.

Fees
Sec. 3. (a) The fees for a drug free Indiana trust license plate areas follows:
(1) The appropriate fee under IC 9-29-5-38(a).
(2) An annual fee of twenty-five dollars ($25).
(b) The annual fee referred to in subsection (a)(2) must becollected by the bureau.

Special account
Sec. 4. (a) The annual fee described in section 3(a)(2) of thischapter shall be deposited with the treasurer of state in a specialaccount. Money in the account at the end of a state fiscal year doesnot revert to the state general fund.
(b) The auditor of state shall monthly distribute the money in thespecial account established under subsection (a) to the IndianaCommunities for Drug-Free Youth, Inc., or its successororganization, if the Indiana Communities for Drug-Free Youth, Inc.,or its successor organization meets the following requirements:
(1) The organization is an Indiana nonprofit corporation.
(2) The organization is exempt from federal income taxationunder Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3).
However, if an organization does not meet these requirements, thetreasurer of state shall create a segregated account within theaddiction services fund established under IC 12-23-2-2, and theauditor of state shall deposit the money in the account to be
distributed to the division of mental health and addiction.
(c) An organization that receives money under subsection (b) shalldistribute the money to local nonprofit organizations at leastsemiannually for drug abuse education and prevention initiatives.
