Accidents occurring before July 1, 1943
    Sec. 1. This article does not apply to a judgment in a civil actionor cause of action arising out of an accident occurring before July 1,1943.

IC 9-25-1-2
Motor carriers; certificates of exemption
    Sec. 2. This article does not apply to a person engaged, underregulation by the department of state revenue, in the business ofcommon carrier of persons or property by motor vehicle. If involvedin a reportable motor vehicle accident, a common or contract carrierof persons or property by motor vehicle may be required, in thediscretion of the bureau, to file a certificate of exemption on a formthe bureau prescribes.

Motor carriers; exemption from certificate of compliance filingrequirements
    Sec. 3. Notwithstanding the provisions of this article, a driver ofa motor vehicle that is:
        (1) operated by a motor carrier (as defined in IC 8-2.1-17-10);or
        (2) registered for more than twenty-six thousand (26,000)pounds;
is not required to file a certificate of compliance with the bureau.

Self-insured persons; exemption; certificate
    Sec. 4. The provisions of this article relating to insurance do notapply to a person who has registered a motor vehicle in Indiana if theperson obtains a certificate of self-insurance from the bureau underIC 9-25-4-11.

Post office trucks
    Sec. 5. This article does not apply to an operator of a governmentowned post office truck on official assignment.

Nonresidents
    Sec. 6. This article applies to a person who is not a resident ofIndiana under the same conditions as this article applies to a residentof Indiana.
