268.582  Commencement of action by governing body on receipt of petition.  In addition to initiating annexation proceedings on its own motion pursuant to NRS 268.584, the governing body of any city shall commence action in accordance with the provisions of NRS 268.584 to 268.590, inclusive, upon the petition of the board of county commissioners, or upon the petition of a majority of the owners of real property in an unincorporated area developed for urban purposes which is approximately described in the petition.
