278.100 - Regional planning commission: Members; terms; membership on city or county planning commission not public office; compensation; removal; vacancies.
1. Â The ordinance must specify the membership of the commission, which must consist of not less than six members or more than 12 members.
2. Â The ordinance must provide that the term of each member is 4 years, or until his or her successor takes office, except that the terms of two of the members first appointed are 3 years, and the respective terms of two members first appointed are 1 and 2 years. No more than one-third of the members may hold any other public office. For the purposes of this subsection, membership on the planning commission of a county or city must not be considered holding a public office.
3. Â The governing body creating the commission shall, by resolution, provide what compensation, if any, each of the members shall receive for his or her services as a member, not to exceed $40 per meeting or a total of $200 per month.
4. Â Members may be removed, after public hearing, by a majority vote of the governing body, for inefficiency, neglect of duty or malfeasance of office.
5. Â All appointments to fill vacancies must be for the unexpired term.
