482.367001 - Application; limitation on number of sets; interchangeable use; identification number; fee; expiration; renewal.
1.  Upon application, the Department shall issue not more than 12 sets of special license plates to any organization which operates a museum for the exhibition or display of motor vehicles and which is a nonprofit organization that is recognized as exempt from taxation pursuant to 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(3).
2. Â Each set of special license plates issued pursuant to this section may be used interchangeably on any of the motor vehicles exhibited or displayed in the museum when such a motor vehicle is operated during a test drive, parade or special event or driven within 70 miles from the museum.
3. Â Each set of special license plates issued pursuant to this section must have displayed upon them the identification number which is assigned to the nonprofit organization. The Department may assign a different letter or symbol to each set of plates.
4. Â The Department shall not charge or collect any registration fees or governmental services tax for the issuance of the special license plates pursuant to this section, except that a fee of $12 for each set of plates must be paid at the time of application.
5. Â The special license plates issued pursuant to this section expire 1 year after the date of issuance and may be renewed upon application and payment of a fee of $12.
