561.301  Aquatic agriculture: Promotion, protection and regulation.  Aquatic agriculture, which includes the propagation, cultivation and harvesting of plants indigenous to water in a controlled or selected aquatic environment for the commercial production of food, is one of the agricultural enterprises conducted in this state. The Department shall promote, protect and regulate aquatic agriculture to the extent that the Department is authorized to regulate other forms of agriculture and other agricultural products. The Department shall confer with the Department of Wildlife regarding aquatic agriculture to prevent any adverse effects on existing aquatic animals.
