648.020 - Creation; members; Chair; compensation of members and employees; representative of general public prohibited from participation in examination.
1.  The Private Investigator’s Licensing Board, consisting of five members appointed by the Governor, is hereby created.
2. Â The Governor shall appoint:
(a) One member who is a private investigator.
(b) One member who is a private patrol officer.
(c) One member who is a polygraphic examiner.
(d) Two members who are representatives of the general public. These members must not be:
(1) A licensee; or
(2) The spouse or the parent or child, by blood, marriage or adoption, of a licensee.
3. Â The members of the Board shall elect a Chair of the Board from among its members by majority vote. After the initial election, the Chair shall hold office for a term of 2 years beginning on July 1 of each year. If a vacancy occurs in the office of Chair, the members of the Board shall elect a Chair from among its members for the remainder of the unexpired term.
4. Â Each member of the Board is entitled to receive:
(a) A salary of not more than $150, as fixed by the Board, for each day or portion of a day during which the member attends a meeting of the Board; and
(b) A per diem allowance and travel expenses at a rate fixed by the Board, while engaged in the business of the Board. The rate must not exceed the rate provided for state officers and employees generally.
5. Â While engaged in the business of the Board, each employee of the Board is entitled to receive a per diem allowance and travel expenses at a rate fixed by the Board. The rate must not exceed the rate provided for state officers and employees generally.
6. Â A member who is a representative of the general public shall not participate in preparing, conducting or grading any examination required by the Board.
