§ 15.2-1242. Minutes of meetings and proceedings.

The governing body of every county shall cause to be recorded, in well boundbooks or by a microphotographic process which complies with standards adoptedpursuant to regulations issued under § 42.1-82 for microfilm, microfiche, orsuch other similar microphotographic process, complete minutes of all theirrespective meetings and proceedings. All bids submitted on any building,materials, supplies, work, or project to be let to contract by any governingbody may be incorporated by reference in such minutes, and the record of suchbids shall be retained in a separate file. Such minutes and records of bidsshall be kept open to public inspection at all reasonable times for a periodof three years after they have been recorded. The minutes of regularlyoccurring workshop meetings at which no official action is taken may berecorded by tape or sound recording, which shall be retained and availablefor public inspection in accordance with the Virginia Freedom of InformationAct (§ 2.2-3700 et seq.) and the Virginia Public Records Act (§ 42.1-76 etseq.).
