§ 15.2-3810. Declining of grant of city status.

In any proceeding brought under this chapter, the town council may, byordinance or resolution, decline to accept city status on the terms andconditions imposed by the court at any time prior to twenty-one days afterfinal adjudication establishing city status. In such case the court shallapportion the total costs, taking into consideration the extent to whichcounty revenues are derived from within the town, the relative financialabilities of the parties, and the relative merits of the case.
