§ 15.2-3818. Town sergeant to continue in office.

If a town becomes a city under this chapter, the sergeant of the town, ifthere is one, shall be the sheriff of the city and discharge all the dutiesimposed on him by the charter or by general law. The sheriff's duties andcompensation shall be such as are provided by law for town sergeants. Heshall serve until his successor is elected and qualified.
