§ 15.2-6205. General powers of Authority; regulations; enforcement ofstatutes, rules, etc.

The Authority acting through its Board:

1. Is vested with the powers of a body corporate, including the power to sueand be sued, plead and be impleaded, make contracts, and adopt and use acommon seal and alter the same as may be deemed expedient;

2. May retain legal counsel to represent the Authority in hearings,controversies, or matters involving the interests of the Authority and thefurtherance of its purposes; and

3. May adopt, alter or repeal its own bylaws and regulations which govern themanner in which its business may be transacted and may provide for theappointment of such committees, and the functions thereof, as the Authoritydeems necessary to facilitate its business. Each committee shall consist ofthe number of persons as the Authority deems advisable. Committee membersshall receive no compensation for their services, but may be reimbursed theirnecessary traveling and other expenses incurred while on the business of theAuthority. The Authority may set a flat fee for the expenses of a member inattendance at a meeting of the Authority or at its other functions. Such feeshall not exceed $100 per day.
