§ 2.2-2610. Duties of the Council; acceptance of gifts and grants.

A. The Council shall perform the following functions:

1. Assist localities in the region, as well as the General Assembly, with theproblems, concerns and issues of the tourism industry in the Blue Ridgeregion;

2. Encourage a cooperative attitude among the localities of the region andassist in the establishment of successful tourism partnerships betweenprivate and public organizations;

3. Develop and assist in the implementation of a plan to increase tourismrevenue within the Blue Ridge region;

4. Review and disseminate information to the localities in this regionconcerning statewide and national tourism associations;

5. Encourage localities in the region to participate in the Virginia LocalTourism Accreditation Program; and

6. Encourage localities to invest in tourism development as an integral partof their overall economic development.

B. The Council may apply for, accept, and expend gifts, grants, or donationsfrom public or private sources to enable it to carry out its objectives.
