§ 22.1-290. Board authorized to award teaching scholarship loans.

The Board of Education may, out of such funds as may be appropriated for thepurpose, provide for the awarding of teaching scholarship loans to studentspreparing to teach by attending nonprofit institutions of higher education inthe Commonwealth whose primary purpose is to provide collegiate or graduateeducation and not to provide religious training or theological education.The Board shall include in the list of specialties eligible for thisscholarship loan program, scholarship loans for students preparing to teachin early childhood programs. Such scholarship loans shall be apportioned andadministered pursuant to regulations of the Board.
