§ 24.2-523. Candidates to pay fee before filing.

Every candidate for nomination for any office at any primary shall, before hefiles his declaration of candidacy, pay a fee equal to two percent of oneyear's minimum salary attached to the office for which he is candidate ineffect in the year in which he files.

In case of an office for which compensation is paid in whole or in part byfees, the amount to be paid by a candidate as his contribution for thepayment of the expenses of the primary shall be fixed by the proper committeeof the respective parties.

If there is no salary or fee attached to the office, the fee for primaryexpenses shall be five dollars. This provision includes candidates for partycommittees in § 24.2-518.
