§ 30-130. Election, term and compensation; vacancy.

The Auditor of Public Accounts shall be elected by the joint vote of the twohouses of the General Assembly, for the term of four years, as provided inArticle IV, Section 18 of the Constitution of Virginia, and he shall receivesuch compensation as may be appropriated by law for the purpose. In the eventthe office of Auditor of Public Accounts becomes vacant while the GeneralAssembly is not in session, the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commissionshall appoint a successor to serve until thirty days after the commencementof the next session of the General Assembly.
