§ 30-247. Purposes.

The purposes of the signatories in enacting this Agreement are to assist thelegislatures of Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania in evaluating andresponding to problems of mutual concern relating to the Chesapeake Bay; topromote intergovernmental cooperation; to encourage cooperative coordinatedresource planning and action by the signatories and their agencies; toprovide, where appropriate, through recommendation to the respectivelegislature, uniformity of legislative application; to preserve and enhancethe functions, powers and duties of existing offices and agencies ofgovernment; and to recommend improvements in the existing management systemfor the benefit of the present and future inhabitants of the Chesapeake Bayregion.
