§ 32.1-351.2. Children's Health Insurance Program Advisory Committee;purpose; membership; etc.

The Department of Medical Assistance Services shall maintain a Children'sHealth Insurance Program Advisory Committee to assess the policies,operations, and outreach efforts for Family Access to Medical InsuranceSecurity (FAMIS) and FAMIS Plus and to evaluate enrollment, utilization ofservices, and the health outcomes of children eligible for such programs. TheCommittee shall consist of no more than 20 members and shall includemembership from appropriate entities, as follows: one representative of theJoint Commission on Health Care, the Department of Social Services, theDepartment of Health, the Department of Education, the Department ofBehavioral Health and Developmental Services, the Virginia Health CareFoundation, various provider associations and children's advocacy groups; andother individuals with significant knowledge and interest in children'shealth insurance. The Committee may report on the current status of FAMIS andFAMIS Plus and make recommendations as deemed necessary to the Director ofthe Department of Medical Assistance Services and the Secretary of Health andHuman Resources.

The Department of Medical Assistance Services shall enter into agreementswith the Department of Education and the Department of Health to identifychildren who are eligible for free or reduced price school lunches or forservices through the Women, Infants, and Children program (WIC) in order thatthe eligibility of such children for the Virginia Plan for Title XXI of theSocial Security Act may be determined expeditiously.
