§ 32.1-288.1. Determination of hazardous human remains.

The Commissioner, in consultation with the Governor, shall have the authorityto determine if human remains are hazardous to the public health. If theCommissioner determines that such remains are hazardous, the Commonwealth,with direction from the Commissioner, shall be charged with the safehandling, identification, and disposition of the remains, and shall erect amemorial, as appropriate, at any disposition site.

For the purposes of this section, "hazardous human remains" means thoseremains contaminated with an infectious, radiologic, chemical or otherdangerous agent.
