§ 33.1-190.3. Use of English units of measure in design or advertisement ofprojects.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board, Commonwealth TransportationCommissioner, and Department of Transportation shall use English units ofmeasure in the design, advertisement, construction, and preparation of plansand specifications of every road, bridge, tunnel, or overpass construction ormaintenance project. However, nothing in this action shall prevent the Board,Commissioner, or Department from continuing the use of metric units ofmeasure in the design, advertisement, or construction of any project or thepreparation of plans or specifications for a project if, prior to July 1,1999, metric units of measure were used in the design, advertisement, plans,or specifications for the project.
