§ 36-66. Housing projects authorized.

Any housing authority, as defined in § 36-65, is authorized to initiate,develop, construct, purchase or rent housing projects, planned on a low cost,nonprofit basis, for World War II veterans and their immediate families whoare unable to obtain suitable housing otherwise. Such housing authority islikewise authorized to operate, manage, administer, and maintain suchprojects; provided, however, that no such project shall be initiated or begunby any such housing authority subsequent to March 1, 1948. In the operation,management, administration and maintenance of such projects the housingauthority shall not become or act as a political subdivision of theCommonwealth and shall be subject to state and local taxation.
