§ 42.1-72. Injuring or destroying books and other property of libraries.

Any person who willfully, maliciously or wantonly writes upon, injures,defaces, tears, cuts, mutilates, or destroys any book or other libraryproperty belonging to or in the custody of any public, county or regionallibrary, The Library of Virginia, other repository of public records, museumsor any library or collection belonging to or in the custody of anyeducational, eleemosynary, benevolent, hereditary, historical library orpatriotic institution, organization or society, shall be guilty of a Class 1misdemeanor.
