§ 5.1-1.2. Appointment of Director; term; vacancies.

The Department shall be under the direction of a director, hereinafterreferred to in this title as "Director," who shall be appointed by theGovernor, subject to confirmation by the General Assembly if in session whensuch appointment is made, and, if not in session, then at its next succeedingsession. He shall hold his office at the pleasure of the Governor for a termcoincident with that of each Governor making the appointment or until hissuccessor shall be appointed and qualified. Vacancies shall be filled for theunexpired term in the same manner as original appointments are made.
