§ 53.1-67.2. Purpose.

The purposes of this article are to (i) provide effective protection ofsociety and (ii) provide efficient and economical correctional services byestablishing and maintaining appropriate sanction alternatives and byassisting state-responsible offenders who are incarcerated in returning tosociety as productive citizens, with the goal of reducing the incidence ofrepeat offenders.
